Professor Renz serves as Director of the Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiochemistry, Molecular Diagnostics at Philipps-Universität Marburg and University Hospital Giessen and Marburg (UKGM). His research centres on the pathogenesis of allergies and asthma, with a particular focus on gene-environment interactions, the role of the microbiome, and epigenetic regulation.
Professor Renz has held several prominent positions, including President of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL) since 2022 and President of the German Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (DGAKI) from 2010 to 2016. He has also served as Deputy Spokesperson of the Universities of Giessen and Marburg Lung Center (UGMLC), one of five sites of the German Lung Center (DZL), since 2010. He has authored over 380 original research articles and more than 180 review articles and editorials in peer-reviewed international journals.
