Professor Seema Aceves is Professor of Paediatric Allergy and Immunology at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), USA, and Director of the Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders Clinic at Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego, USA. She studied medicine and completed her PhD in immunology at UCSD. Her clinical training included paediatrics and paediatric allergy and immunology at prominent US centres such as UCSD/Rady Children’s Hospital.
Professor Aceves is an internationally recognised expert in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and related eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. Her research focuses on the immunological mechanisms driving EoE, as well as novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to improve patient outcomes. She has published approximately 200 peer-reviewed publications and is actively involved in clinical trials, translational research and guideline development. She is the inaugural recipient of UCSD’s MRD Endowed Chair in Paediatrics.
Dedicated to improving patient care and advancing research, Professor Aceves works closely with multidisciplinary teams and contributes regularly to educational programmes and expert panels. She is also a recognised leader in advocacy and awareness efforts for eosinophilic disorders worldwide.
