Dr Sverrild is Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine at Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has more than 15 years of research experience in obstructive airway diseases, with his current focus on translational aspects of asthma and COPD immunology. Dr Sverrild has conducted epidemiological studies and managed a wide range of clinical research projects, both cross-sectional and prospective. Currently, Dr Sverrild is the Principal Investigator on two Phase II, investigator-initiated randomised placebo-controlled trial of biologics in asthma and COPD.
His research interests include understanding the role of TSLP in obstructive lung disease and exacerbations of asthma, methods and techniques including interventional clinical trials, bronchial epithelial cell cultures and RNA-sequencing. Other interests include asthma epidemiology, diagnostics, airway immunology, and the role of the airway epithelium in disease pathogenesis. Dr Sverrild collaborates with researchers from Copenhagen and Lund University, focusing on biological treatments' effects on viral infection responses and the microbiome's influence on pulmonary inflammation.
