Dr Anne K. Ellis is a Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Queen’s University, with a cross-appointment to the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. She also serves as Director and Principal Investigator of the Environmental Exposure Unit (EEU) and Allergy Research Unit at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Dr Ellis’s research programme integrates translational medicine with clinical trials, focusing on allergic rhinitis, anaphylaxis, and the impact of allergic rhinitis on other allergic diseases. Her work also examines the role of the nasal microbiome in allergic rhinitis and the mechanisms underlying biphasic anaphylaxis. Under her leadership, the EEU has become an internationally recognised model for controlled allergen exposure studies. Other areas of expertise and research include nasal allergen challenges and identifying early life biomarkers.
Dr Ellis is the Immediate Past-President of the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and former chair of the Women in Medicine Committee at Queen’s University. She has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications, has been the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on over 100 projects, including over 20 Investigator-Initiated Studies, and has been invited to lecture at numerous national and international conferences. Dr Ellis is the recipient of numerous mentorship, teaching, and research awards which recognises her achievements and expertise in these different areas.
