Professor Hallstrand is Professor of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Washington, and a board-certified physician at the Asthma Clinic at UW Medical Centre – Northwest Campus.
His main clinical and research interests include the management of asthma, difficult-to-control asthma, the pathogenesis of airway hyperresponsiveness, including exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, and the role of epithelial dysfunction in asthma.
Professor Hallstrand has published in several peer-reviewed journals. His most recent publications (2022/2023) include the update of the 2005 European Respiratory Society (ERS)/American Thoracic Society (ATS) technical standard document for the interpretation of routine lung function tests, and several studies on the role of immunity and inflammation in asthma.
